PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE REPERTORY

This is large percussion ensemble, inspired by the flowing rhythms and joyful melodies from sub-Saharan Africa. There are vamp sections for solos. Many of the African instruments may be substituted for Western percussion instruments.

LEVEL: Senior High School to University Percussion Ensemble

This is an introduction piece for beginning percussion ensembles. This march will develop good sense of ensemble, which includes developing a sense of common pulse and listening for dynamics between sections.

LEVEL: Beginner

This is a musical mosaic of Western and sub-saharan styles for large percussion ensemble. This piece use instruments such as talking drum, kpanlogo, and djembe for an authentic sounds. However, these African instruments may be substituted for western percussion instruments.

LEVEL: Senior high School to University Percussion Ensemble

LEVEL: High School

This is an energetic piece for large percussion ensemble. A timpani solo begins the piece and sets the tempo, while the others try to catch up! The middle section is a variation on a Bach chorale.

LEVEL: Senior High School Percussion Ensemble

Campanelli was inspired by the bell factory in Agnone, Italy. It is written in a minimalistic style.
